Distinguished Speaker Lectures
The annual OXCEP Distinguished Speaker Lecture Programme invites world-renowned academics and experts to give open lectures at Oxford, on various topics of interest. It also helps senior Oxford academics in various specialties to make short academic visits at major universities in Asia.
Prof. Richard Easterlin
Richard A. Easterlin is currently University Professor of Economics, University of Southern California. He is a member of the National Academy of Sciences and a Distinguished Fellow of the American Economic Association. He is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, the Econometric Society, and the Institute for the Study of Labor (IZA) and is a former president of the Population Association of America, Economic History Association, and Western Economic Association International.
He is the author, among other things, of Happiness, Growth and The Life Cycle (2010), The Reluctant Economist (2004), Growth Triumphant: The 21st Century in Historical Perspective (1996), and Birth and Fortune: The Impact of Numbers on Personal Welfare (1980; 2nd ed. 1987), etc. His current research is on the association between economic growth, public policy, and subjective well-being.

Prof. Justin Yifu Lin
Justin Yifu Lin is currently professor and honorary dean, National School of Development at Peking University, and vice-chairman of the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce. He was the senior vice president and chief economist of the World Bank, 2008-2012. He is much sought after as a top economic adviser, both within and beyond China. He has received honorary doctoral degrees from six international universities and is a corresponding fellow of the British Academy.
Justin Yifu Lin is China’s best-known economist. No-one is better placed to understand both China’s economy and the economies of Africa, and the relationships between them.

Lord Mark Sedwill
Lord Mark Sedwill, KCMG, FRGS, is a former diplomat and senior civil servant who served as Cabinet Secretary and Head of the Home Civil Service to Prime Ministers Theresa May and Boris Johnson. He also served as the United Kingdom National Security Adviser, the United Kingdom Ambassador to Afghanistan, the NATO Senior Civilian Representative in Afghanistan, and the Permanent Under-Secretary of State at the Home Office.
Lord Sedwill is an Honorary Fellow of St Edmund Hall, having taken the M.Phil. in Economics at the Hall in 1987.
