Building on the success since its inception in 2016, the 2027 OXCEP Academic Medicine Course will be held at the Oxford Martin School Lecture Theatre on 4-17 July 2027, under the theme of “Artificial Intelligence driven Precision Medicine” with an emphasis on clinical specialty, for healthcare academic visitors from around the world.

 

*Course contents 

The academic programme of the two-week summer course comprises special lectures in the mornings on twenty frontier topics of AI-driven Precision Medicine, plus three relevant academic visits across the University of Oxford in the afternoons.

 

*Special lectures

Each special lecture session consists of one hour for teaching and half an hour for discussion, to be delivered by a professorial/ senior academic of the University. 

 

*Academic visits

Each academic visit consists of half an hour for presentation and one hour for guided tour of a clinical or research facility, to be hosted by a professorial academic of the University. Over the years, academic visits to the Big Data Institute (hosted by Professor David Eyre and team), the Jenner Institute (hosted by Professor Sir Adrian Hill and team) and the Kavli Institute for Nanoscience Discovery (hosted by Professor Dame Carol Robinson and team) have become most popular among our course attendees.

 

*Seminars

Occasionally guest speakers from other institutions of higher learning, who are principal investigators in research on disruptive innovations or technologies, might be invited to give seminars on the Course. 

 

*Essay

Each attendee of the Course might be expected to compose a minimum 3,000-word essay, presenting his/ her original arguable opinion about an academic issue of his/ her choosing – typically related to a special lecture of the Course.

 

*Course assessment 

Course assessment by course attendees takes place on final Friday afternoon of the Course, under course director supervision.

 

*College events

College events include inter alia welcome dinner, college library induction, choral rehearsal, drinks reception, class photograph session, and farewell dinner.
